“The combination of an SGO Mistika and dual cine80 projectiondesign projectors gives breathtaking results.”

London, UK, 16 March 2010:

SGO, a leading European developer of high-end solutions for the post production and broadcast markets is proud to announce that one of its key London Mistika customers, On Sight, have declared that their Mistika finishing suite is a world first. Soho-based On Sight are experts in support for High Definition and 3D content creation and management.

The company brings 21 years solid reputation in technology innovation. Starting out as a post-production equipment hire company, they were early adopters in high definition and a result opened up HD Lab, a purpose built HD facility in Soho to deal with clients growing requirements.

Early 2009 saw them acquire camera rental company Axis Films and a second base in the heart of the film making community at Shepperton Studios. Axis Films had worked on the World’s first live 3D sports broadcast in early 2007 (via BBC Sports for the Calcutta Cup Rugby) and have a wealth of 3D rigs and acquisition experience. With On Sight’s forward thinking approach, it was only natural for the company to continue to invest into both 3D production and post services.

Later on that year, and as a direct result of Axis’ clients growing 3D work being passed onto the HD Lab, On Sight purchased an SGO Mistika 3D stereo editing system, the first company in London to place an order. Geoff Mills, Director of Sales and Operations of SGO UK stated: “We have worked closely with On Sight to provide the perfect tool for their needs.” On Sight’s SGO Mistika is used for high-end stereoscopic finishing and handles files up to 4K in resolution with real time stereoscopic editing and 3D colour grading.

Using their London Soho base, On Sight’s 3D Mistika finishing suite would require the very best in projectors. After much research, it was projectiondesign that had the best solution resulting in the first 3D 3-chip DLP stereo projection installation in the world. projectiondesign suggested using dual cineo80 projectors in a stereo configuration. The projectors use ACOP optical colour processing technology and by combining fixed and motorised optical filters for each colour channel, the projectors can be optically calibrated with near infinite accuracy.

The new suite completes an entire 3D solution from On Sight, with their camera rental department Axis Films offering an array of 3D rigs and camera systems such as RED and SI-2K. On Sight have recently worked on a number of 3D projects for music, commercial and feature clients. The combination of an SGO Mistika and dual cine80 projectiondesign projectors has given breath-taking results every time.
