SGO Mistika brings real-time grading power to RSS Production in Moscow

Mistika brings Real-time Stereo broadcasting from stage to screen

“Mistika is widely recognised as the most advanced system out there for both 2D and S3D and ahead of its league and is the vanguard of quality 3D…
We recently selected Mistika for its reliability and versatility – the fact it is one complete system appealed to us as we needed a product that could colour grade and also perform various functions in 2D and 3D – having all these tools at our fingertips in one system was perfect for our needs.”

Creative Producer at RSS Production, Alexander Dukhon

Moscow, Russia, 13 June 2013 –

Moscow-based RSS Production has invested in SGO’s Mistika system to upgrade their newly launched post production studio predominantly for colour grading in 2D and Stereo 3D work. The Company provides technical and creative expertise in 2D and Stereo 3D film and television productions for commercials and documentaries and they also specialise in delivering corporate media events.

RSS Production is an association of pioneering professionals in the film and television production industry with resources that include high-end digital cameras and next-generation technology for Stereoscopic 3D and 2D productions. The post production studio is made up of several editing stations, sound recording systems as well as a VFX and colour grading and Stereo 3D studio which now houses an SGO Mistika system with a 2K Barco projector with a 5-metre reference screen all under one roof. RSS Production is currently working on a feature film and planning to use their new Mistika technology for the colour grading and Stereo 3D effects, as well as for an upcoming mass media event show. Other exciting projects in the pipeline include a series of 2D and Stereo 3D documentaries and visual effects films.

Russian entrepreneur and the studio’s Creative Producer at RSS Production, Alexander Dukhon says “Stereo 3D is only just developing in Russia and is still a very new format here but there is a growing demand for it, as audiences enjoy seeing the screen come alive in 3D. Producers are still afraid of the format and that is why our company aims to dispel the myths about 3D production with cutting edge and performance-leading technology, such as Mistika, for 3D shoots and post production. Mistika is widely recognised as the most advanced system out there for both 2D and S3D and ahead of its league and is the vanguard of quality 3D.” Alexander expands further “We recently selected Mistika for its reliability and versatility – the fact it is one complete system appealed to us as we needed a product that could colour grade and also perform various functions in 2D and 3D – having all these tools at our fingertips in one system was perfect for our needs.”

Jose Luis Acha, Regional Sales Manager at SGO in Madrid states “It is very exciting to introduce a new customer in the Russian market to Mistika. Russia’s demand for emerging technologies is rapidly increasing and the timing is ideal for them to embrace Mistika technology. We look forward to a close relationship with RSS Production as Mistika is put to work on the forefront of Russia’s 2D and 3D colour grading and DI for their headline events, high profile shows, documentaries and film work.”

RSS Production have recently produced one of Russia’s very first live S3D Festival concerts in a real-time broadcast at the “Olimpiysky” Stadium, at one of Russia’s largest music festivals in an Augmented Reality format, which received positive applause from a 30000 strong audience wearing 3D glasses. The performing artists included Zodiac, Gorky Park, Silent Circle, Arabesque, Matia Bazar, Bad Boys Blue, Ricchi e Poveri, Sabrina, Chris Norman, C.C.Catch, Boney M, Black and many Famous Russian Rock Stars. RSS Production used bright Led passive 3D screens especially created for this show on an impressive 42 metre-wide by 13 metre high screen. RSS Production pulled off an incredible production that also included CG on a transparent 3D screen which gave an amazing effect as if the images were floating in mid air. A real set was placed behind the screen itself which worked with the light and the CG images, hovering in the air above the stage. The audience could see behind the CG objects which were flying in three-dimensional space resulting in a stunning and realistic effect astounding the crowd. The feedback was overwhelming with many people saying they wanted to see this technology and effect at all future concerts.

The concert was produced by Silence Concert Production (http://www.silencepro.ru/) for Avto Radio (http://www.avtoradio.ru/) and the Creative Producer was Alexander Dukhon with all video content production and full Stereo 3D support provided by RSS Production (www.rss-production.ru).
