Los Angeles, 1 April 2013 –

The prolific film-making team behind the rebooted ‘Star Trek’ franchise, Bad Robot Productions, has invested in a Mistika conform and Stereo 3D system to serve as the centrepiece of its rapidly growing in-house production services operation, Kelvin Optical. Already lined up for a variety of projects at Bad Robot, Mistika will be significantly involved in the finishing of Star Trek Into Darkness.

In adding Mistika to its production pipeline, Bad Robot will have constant access to the industry’s performance-leading toolsets, intuitively designed to help boost creativity and productivity. Mistika will provide a reliable high-end one-stop production solution within a seamless, file-based workflow environment.

Bad Robot Production Executive Ben Rosenblatt raves “Mistika has opened up an entirely new world of workflow efficiency and quality control to us by bringing high-end finishing capabilities inside our facility. The platform’s versatility has already made it an essential part of every project, of any size, that we make. I’m particularly impressed by the Stereo 3D features which are unrivalled by any other system we considered, as is SGO’s commitment to personalised support and customisation of the software based on our needs.”

The Mistika systems have been supplied and supported by local U.S. SGO partner AArmadillo Inc. headed by CEO Colin Ritchie who states “I am particularly proud of the Bad Robot Mistika, it represents a significant step into new business and creative models for the production company. Their reliance on “the outside world” has reduced as a result of the installation of the Mistika which should have both creative and positive financial implications for them.

Geoff Mills, Director of SGO Global Sales & Operations states, “We are extremely proud to be working with the team at Bad Robot. It is exciting to see Mistika, at the centre of production workflow, being embraced by the most captivating storytellers of our time.” Geoff adds, “Our customers feel assured they have the highest quality service, if they have a Mistika system on board. Mistika is recognised as a premium product and has now been placed at the helm at Bad Robot, to fulfil expectations and to deliver excellent creative results.
