The Twin2 provides four computers in one 2U system - High Density Computing for Servers and Rendering.

The PixBox-2UTwin2 systems based on the latest high density computing solutions from Supermicro. Their products incorporate the most advanced hardware and software technologies to keep pace with the ever-changing demands presented by the massive amount of information in today's business world.

The 2U Twin2™ builds on the success of the 1U version with the addition of hot-swappable systems. The hard drives, redundant power supplies and now motherboards are all hot-swappable. With four systems (or four nodes) within a 2U space, the 2U Twin2™ can support up to 32 processor cores (four systems each housing two of Intel's latest Nehalem Quad-core Xeon 5500 series CPU's.

Costs are reduced by providing higher power efficiency. The placement of four nodes in 2U also reduces your chassis, power supply, and rack cost. In addition, the reduction in chassis investment also reduces the need for power cables and power strips. This provides simplified cabling, better air flow, and easier maintenance.

The onboard IPMI enables remote administration of each node even when the system is powered down. Complete remote control without additional KVM's or software.

The 2U Twin’s layout and chassis design provides 4 Nodes in 2U and up to 84 nodes in a 42U standard rack, which significantly reduces IT space rental costs. For double the connectivity, each node also supports dual Gigabit ethernet or 10GbE ethernet or optional on-board Infiniband.

Please note that packing this much processing power into a 2U form factor requires plenty of cooling. These racks produce a level of noise that should be considered when planning their location within a working environment.

Each Twin2 system contains:

The Twin2 systems have no standard PS/2 ports for keyboard and mouse or floppy or optical drives. If not using the IPMI interface you will need USB devices to configure your system. We can provide an options pack containing Keyboard, mouse, KVM and Optical drive.
