PIXELUTION EQUIPS SPIDER EYE WITH HD SUITES, HIGH END SERVERS & SYSTEMS FOR NEW DISNEY SERIES
“Part of our strategy was to avoid large bulk resellers and go
for the personal touch that Pixelution can provide.”
Morgan Francis, MD, Spider Eye.
Pixelution, leading
specialist UK reseller to the film, television and broadcast
industry has just provided Animation Company, Spider Eye with a
host of cutting-edge technology for a new Disney series. Spider
Eye will be using the systems and equipment Pixelution installed
for work on the high-profile Disney animation series made up of
52 eleven-minute episodes for Playhouse Disney. Pixelution
delivered two impressive HD capable edit suites which included
TVLogic Broadcast Monitors; as well as a 160-core render farm;
twelve high-end work stations; seventeen mid-range workstations;
two 16-Terrabyte servers and a gigabit laser-link between two of
Spider Eye’s premises in Cornwall.
Spider Eye’s Managing Director, Morgan Francis states: “This is
the first TV series to be commissioned by Playhouse Disney
outside of the US and as such puts quite a burden on Spider Eye
to ensure a very smooth production. Part of our strategy was to
avoid large bulk resellers and go for the personal touch that
Pixelution can provide. Being able to speak to the boss, discuss
all aspects of equipment, installation and ongoing support on a
daily basis is an absolute must for us.”
Spider Eye, based in London and Cornwall, produce 2D
traditional, digital and 3D animation for TV and film. Apart
from many other projects, they have also worked on the
Oscar-winning film “Father & Daughter” with well-known Director
Michael Du Dok Dewitt, who won the acclaimed Oscar award for
this project.
Pixelution custom built most of the equipment in their own
workshops. Giles Parker, MD of the company explained: “The
reason customers like Spider Eye come to us is because they know
we have the experience, knowledge and track record to specify,
build and support the best performing, most reliable equipment
for a given budget. It has been a privilege to work with Morgan
and his team in Cornwall and London on this high profile
project.”
