New Zealand’s Park Road Post
Production invests in Mistika
placing it at the heart of their stereoscopic 3D productions
Wellington, New Zealand, 10 September 2010: SGO is delighted
to announce at IBC 2010, the exciting and significant news that
highly esteemed New Zealand-based facility Park Road Post
Production, following elated reactions to Mistika, has invested
in two Mistika 4K systems as their system of choice for stereo
3D production. Park Road’s creative and technical team were
initially attracted to Mistika’s unrivalled stereoscopic 3D
capability but the direct relationship with SGO was a key factor
to ensure they continue to push the boundaries of development
and technology.
Head of Technology at Park Road Post Production, Phil Oatley
states: “There's no disputing that Mistika has the best
stereo 3D toolset on the planet bar none, but this is
complimented by equally capable conform and grading tools, all
of which run faster than we ever thought possible on a stock
workstation. SGO's open approach to storage and the sheer
script-ability of Mistika means that we are able to integrate
the system seamlessly into our operations.” Phil adds
further: “To be honest, what's impressed us most is SGO
themselves, their commitment to their customers and the future
of Mistika is like nothing we've ever experienced before. To say
they are committed is an understatement.”
David Illingworth, Head of DI and Colourist at Park Road
Post Production, continues to comment: “Mistika is one of the
first genuinely exciting developments in DI platforms in a long
time. What SGO have created is a truly exciting, powerful and
creative tool that has taken Park Road's capabilities to new
levels, and has allowed us to complete some incredibly complex
jobs in impossible time frames.”
Park Road, is a premier post production facility in Wellington
and part of a creative community that includes some of the
finest film making technology and talent in the world. Their
reputation for creativity and delivery keeps them in high demand
with some of the world’s leading film studios.
Park Road were decidedly impressed with SGO’s experience and
astounded by Mistika’s mind-blowing technical proficiency, not
only in the area of stereoscopic 3D, where it excels as a market
leader, but also for its remarkable 2D post production
capabilities, which include colour grading, image restoration,
conforming, finishing and editing functionalities. They were
predominantly taken aback with the fact that Mistika is a
complete and competent finishing tool with the ability to
successfully and efficiently support their entire post
production process. Owing to Mistika’s truly open architecture,
powerful real-time capacity, advanced tool-sets and work-flows,
the two 4K systems will form the hub of Park Road’s post
production work-flow infrastructure, placing Mistika at the
heart of their stereo 3D productions.
District 9, The Lovely Bones, Battle of Red Cliff, Knowing, 30
Days of Night amongst many other high profile films were post
produced at Park Road; illustrating the superior level of
quality and expertise that the much-admired facility delivers.
Mistika will now play a key role in the creative work-flow
process from start to finish through each post production stage
of their prestigious projects at the worldwide-leading group.
Geoff Mills, Director of Sales and Operations, SGO UK states:
"We are delighted Park Road Post has put its trust in SGO and
Mistika and is the result of an extensive and successful
evaluation along with the building of a unique relationship to
provide the very best available tools and work-flows, both now
and for the future. Once again SGO has demonstrated that it is a
clear world leader in stereo 3D and importantly, proves Mistika
as a solid investment for both 2D and stereo 3D production."

production and live on set system capable of SD, HD, 2K, 4K, and
stereoscopic 3D with real-time RED camera and other native data
