Baraka Post Production post produces The Paddington’s new Pop Promo titled “50 To A Pound (£)” for Draw Pictures
Baraka Post Production has just post produced
and created the special effects for a new high energy rock and
roll pop promo entitled “50 to a £ (pound)” for Indy Rock ‘n
Roll band, The Paddingtons, directed by Caswell Coggins and
produced by Patrick Holtkamp from Draw Pictures. Tom Bird at
Mercury Records commissioned the video.
The music video portrays the band smashing up a pub-kind-of-gig
and initiating a rather considerable punch-up.
Online Editor at Baraka Post Production, Eliot Milbourn worked
on the effects using Mistika. In order to make the production
budget stretch as far as possible, Caswell shot this video on
DigiBeta, but with a 35mm lens adapter. This provided a more
film like depth of field and gave a great starting point for
Baraka’s post-production work. Eliot explains: “I introduced a
colour palette that was more appropriate to a film shoot and
added a little grain to create a grimy pub-like filmic feel to
the footage. Mistika provides a fantastic tool set for this kind
of image manipulation, where the original shoot inevitably looks
very much like video, but the final output is very filmic
without the cost of film stock, and Telecine.” Eliot also
lightened up sections of the film, using multiple tracking
masks. Mistika’s colour grading capability created the desired
effects to give the video a dark grungy and Indy Rock n Roll
appearance to co-ordinate with the bands iconic image. Baraka is
the first facility in London to use Mistika. Mistika will be
demonstrated at IBC this year, Hall 7, Stand 933.
Talented Director, Caswell Coggins from Draw Pictures comments:
“Patrick Holtkamp introduced me to Baraka Post Production for
the post production work for the video which I was very happy
with. I thought Online Editor, Eliot Milbourne at Baraka did a
great job and that the rendering time was incredibly fast and we
were able to make changes quickly on their Mistika Post
Production System, which impressed me. I was very happy with the
subtle effects we wanted to achieve. I will definitely be using
Baraka again.”
The Paddingtons are back on the road with new single, '50 To The
£' released this month through Poptones/ Mercury, and the
recording of their debut album under their belts. Hot on the
heels of their No. 25 chart success with their 'Panic Attack'
single at the start of May this year. The single will be shown
on MTV, FTM and the Amp.
