BARAKA CREATES CAPTIVATING EFFECTS FOR RONAN KEATING’S NEW MUSIC VIDEO “THIS I PROMISE YOU”

"David Cox and his team at Baraka have once again produced outstanding results, I can always rely on Baraka to deliver superior work. I will always come back to them time and time again.”

               - Stuart Gosling, Director, Panda Pictures.

Baraka Post Production finished and composited the latest Ronan Keating music video entitled: “This I promise you”, a love ballad which is due for release imminently. The enchanting piece was produced by Jon Adams and directed and filmed by prominent DoP, Stuart Gosling from Panda Pictures for Polydor. The prestigious project was shot on 35mm film. The high profile footage was composited and colour graded by Senior Compositor and Joint MD at Baraka, David Cox along with Baraka’s Compositor and Grader, Eliot Milbourn using the Mistika postproduction system. Director, Stuart Gosling approached Baraka having had a long history of creating special effects-lead music videos and commercials with Baraka. Most famously he directed almost of all of the music videos for Back Street Boys, Westlife, Girls Aloud and A1 amongst many other artists as well as high profile work for CNN and other significant projects, which were also post produced at Baraka.

The music video starts off with Ronan Keating standing in front of a scenic background facing the camera holding a picture frame. As he starts to sing, the camera zooms out of the gilded picture frame he is holding and we then see him within the frame as well in a different scene holding up another photo frame, which the camera then lures us into again. We feel a sense of the camera zooming within and out of frames within frames, transporting us to various scenes depicting tender love between people, from different walks of life and countries all over the world. A frame depicting a happy couple on their wedding day turns into a moving scene of a still photograph within a page of a wedding album. This clever effect gives the viewer a sense of time passing and past memories building up over time and how love grows through the years and the effect of moving into frame within frame engages the audience.

Baraka’s Eliot used Mistika to composite the shots together and he skilfully graded the scenes appropriately to enhance the atmosphere and credibility. Some of the framed scenes were made into matt images, oil paintings, and in some cases, colours were saturated to match the setting and cultural context and time period. Eliot explains: “In some of the scenes, we had Ronan in front of a green screen, where I composited background scenes and in others a back projection was used. Other effects we used were adding reflections, painting effects, inserting black and white images and making it all look believable as a whole."

Stuart Gosling, Director at Panda Pictures praised Baraka’s work: "David Cox and his team at Baraka have once again produced outstanding results, I can always rely on Baraka to deliver superior work. I will always come back to them time and time again."
